College-Age Adults at Higher Risk of Falling Victim to Identity Theft

Better Business Bureau warns that college-age adults are particularly vulnerable to identity theft and related fraudulent crimes. According to the Consumer Sentinel Network database, 56,689 consumers between the ages of 20 and 29 fell victim to identity theft in 2011. That number accounts for 23 percent of the total number of identity theft complaints reported last year; the largest out of any 10-year age range.

Avoid Online Scammers on Cyber Monday

The Monday after Thanksgiving, dubbed Cyber Monday, is growing in popularity as a day to shop online. According to the National Retail Federation, seven in 10 online retailers expect their sales to grow at least 15 percent this holiday season. Complaints Against Towing Companies Rise 55 Percent

In the past 12 months, Better Business Bureau received 95 complaints against local towing companies, a 55 percent increase from the previous 12 months. While the majority of these complaints were addressed by the company, the average towing fee consumers report paying was more than $700. Whether a vehicle is broken down and requires towing or is towed for illegal parking, BBB reminds consumers to research companies carefully and understand the necessary fees associated with a tow.
